MENTORING
Johnson College has a support system for all students know as the Student Mentoring Program. At the beginning of the freshman year, each student is assigned a faculty member (from a different technical/clinical area than his/her major) or other staff member who meets with the student, initially in a group setting. The mentor serves as a point of contact on progress and puts the student in contact with counselors or tutoring staff who may prove helpful in assuring progress.
Mentors are available to meet with students throughout the semester at the student's request. Mentoring sessions are confidential. Students are encouraged to discuss any issues that may be impeding them academically, personally, financially, etc., so that appropriate assistance can be found.
