Event Details
This program prepares students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office. They include preparing patients for examination, treatment, routine laboratory procedures, pharmacology, and taking and documenting vital signs. Plus, they will learn the technical aspects of phlebotomy, the 12-lead EKG, and the cardiac life cycle. It also gives students the skills needed to perform complex coding and billing procedures, including CPT (Introduction, Guidelines, Evaluation, and Management), specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology, and laboratory), and the ICD-10 for both diagnosis and procedure coding, and basic claims processes for insurance reimbursements. Students will also gain the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties required of dialysis technicians. Under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses, dialysis technicians operate kidney dialysis machines, prepare dialyzer reprocessing and delivery systems, and maintain and repair equipment. Furthermore, technicians work with patients during dialysis procedures, monitor and record vital signs, and administer local anesthetics and drugs as needed.
