Industry Honors Program

We’re excited to invite your company to partner with Johnson College through our Industry Honors Program, a unique, four-semester collaboration connecting motivated students with real-world industry experience. This program offers your team the chance to engage directly with the next generation of skilled professionals while shaping the workforce of tomorrow.

About the Program

Our Industry Honors Program is a carefully designed, four-semester journey that connects students with your company in meaningful ways:

• Semester 1: You’ll start by joining us on campus as a guest speaker, sharing insights about your company and industry with students eager to learn.
• Semester 2: Students then come to your facility for job shadowing, where they observe day-to-day operations and gain valuable exposure. No hands-on work yet, just learning and understanding.
• Semester 3: Provide a hands-on Industry Immersion experience that replaces a traditional lab course, earning students’ academic credit and involving meaningful tasks with ongoing evaluation.
• Semester 4: Offer part-time internships where students apply their skills while continuing their academic work. You’ll provide feedback through evaluations during this phase.

This progression allows students to gradually build skills and professionalism, while giving your company an early look at potential future employees.

What We Ask of You

As an industry partner, you’ll:

• Share your expertise as a guest speaker during Semester 1
• Host students for job shadowing, hands-on immersion, and internships
• Provide a safe and supportive learning environment
• Complete brief student evaluations during Semesters 3 and 4
• Maintain appropriate general liability insurance coverage and work closely with Johnson College staff to ensure a smooth experience

About Our Students

Our students meet clear academic and professional standards before joining the program. They maintain a minimum GPA, complete required coursework, and demonstrate professionalism and safety awareness. Faculty carefully recommend students who show readiness and enthusiasm to represent Johnson College well in the workplace. Once accepted, students agree to uphold program expectations and follow your company’s policies while on-site. The following academic programs are not eligible for this program: Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, and Veterinary Nursing,

Insurance and Safety

We prioritize safety for everyone involved. Johnson College carries student accident insurance that acts as secondary coverage to students’ personal insurance. If a student is paid and classified as an employee during their internship, your Workers’ Compensation policy may apply. We ask partners to maintain general liability insurance and provide proof upon request. In case of any incident, immediate communication ensures quick, appropriate action.

Building a Strong Partnership

Our relationship is built on clear communication and shared goals. A formal Memorandum of Understanding outlines responsibilities, program expectations, and ongoing collaboration. We regularly review and adjust the program together to ensure it remains valuable and effective for both students and partners. Either party can end the partnership with 30 days’ notice, with a commitment to supporting students’ continued success.
