The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program is a need-based program that provides jobs for eligible students with financial need who are enrolled at least half time, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and employment related to their course of study. FWS is a form of federal financial aid, and eligibility is determined when you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. (Please contact the Financial Aid Office regarding community service obligation.)
Any student interested in a Federal Work Study position must fill out the form on this page and make an appointment with our Financial Aid team. They will make an appointment for you with Human Resources, to complete three background checks. Background checks are paid for by the college and they include criminal history, fingerprinting, and child abuse. Our Financial Aid team can be reached at 570-702-8855.

Notetakers facilitate student success and academic achievement by providing clear and accurate notes of classroom lectures, discussions, and other oral and written communication by instructors and classmates for students who are eligible for the notetaking accommodation through the Office of Disability Services.
Essential Job Functions include:
• Maintain consistent attendance/punctuality of the class for which notes are being taken
• Provide clear and legible notes (either handwritten or typed)
• Ensure accurate spelling and grammar skills
• Supply notes that are detailed and comprehensive by including all relevant information

- Counseling and Disability Services Work Study
The role of the Counseling and Disability Services work study is to help with coordinating resources that will best support and accommodate students with disabilities and other needs to ensure that all students can succeed. The work study student will assist the Counselor/Manager of Disability Services with implementing accommodations for students with disabilities by performing outreach services and preparing forms to be signed.
Essential Functions
- Create promotional material (i.e. branded flyers, PowerPoint slides, and social media) to inform students and potential students about the resources available for student support.
- Uphold student rights to privacy and confidentiality regarding the use and release of their records.
- Provide support for workshop presentations and student outreach, student orientation, and other college events.
- Serve as a positive role model to students.
- If schedule allows, participate in professional development opportunities (i.e. Intercollegiate Counselors Consortium trainings, Prevention Education Consortium meetings, etc.)

Candidates must exhibit patience, courtesy, respect, active listening skills, and highly effective interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail is required. Microsoft Office skills are necessary with Word and Excel, along with Google docs. Responsibilities also include assisting the department with special projects as needed, and other duties as assigned.
