Johnson College’s 101st commencement ceremony will begin tonight, Aug. 5, 2020 at dusk and will be live streamed from the College’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/JohnsonCollegePA.
The ceremony will follow Pennsylvania’s social distancing and sanitization guidelines. All graduates and guests must wear face coverings and stay in their vehicles during the entire ceremony unless instructed to exit. Tailgating and throwing confetti is prohibited.
The commencement ceremony to confer degrees to over 170 graduates will occur at the Circle Drive-In on the Scranton Carbondale Highway in Scranton. Associate in Science degrees (A.S.), Associate of Applied Science degrees (A.A.S.), and academic certificates will be awarded.
Paige Gebhardt Cognetti, Mayor of the City of Scranton will give the commencement address and degrees will be presented by Dr. Katie Leonard, President and CEO of Johnson College, and the 2019-2020 Chair of the Board of Directors, Mr. Alexander E. Stark.
The Student speakers will be Joseph Stoffey and Stephanie Laskowski. Joseph is a graduate of the Computer Information Technology program and recipient of the Johnson College Award for Academic Excellence in the Associate in Science programs. Stephanie is a graduate of the Automotive Technology program, and recipient of the Johnson College Award for Academic Excellence in the Associate in Applied Science programs. These awards recognize the students with the highest grade point average in each degree category.
