The Automation and Robotics concentration in the Mechatronics Technology program prepares graduates for entry-level roles in industrial automation by building proficiency in PLC/HMI programming, robotic system integration, sensors/vision, motion, and pneumatics. Emphasis is on safe commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation of automated cells using Industry 4.0 concepts.
The two-year Biomedical Equipment Technology Associate Degree program prepares students as entry-level biomedical technicians with skills training that include medical terminology and human physiology principles, as well as the maintenance and support, planning and acquisition, and installation of medical equipment according to standards and guidelines.
The Cybersecurity concentration of the Computer Information Technology program prepares students for entry-level positions in information security and network defense. Students learn to protect computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats through hands-on training in security assessment, risk management, ethical hacking, and digital forensics. The program emphasizes identifying vulnerabilities, securing networked systems, responding to security incidents, and implementing best practices for protecting organizational information assets.
The Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations certificate program will prepare students to enter the workforce ready to perform general operations and security functions on networks and other security architectures pertaining to information technology systems. Students will learn basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and application skills required to protect an organization’s sensitive data and systems from cyber threats by identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security response measures, performing penetration testing, monitoring networks, responding to incidents and potential disaster recovery, and learning cybersecurity best practices.
The two-year Electronic Engineering Technology Associate Degree program prepares graduates as entry-level technicians. Students will become proficient in the theoretical and practical applications associated with electronic devices, instrumentation controls, and systems.
Graduates work as technicians and sales representatives in the field of electronic instrumentation and computer repair.
The Industrial Mechanics concentration in the Mechatronics Technology program prepares graduates for entry-level industrial maintenance roles by developing skills in mechanical power transmission, alignment and installation, bearings and lubrication, hydraulics/pneumatics, and electrical drive systems. Emphasis is on safe diagnosis, repair, and preventive/predictive maintenance practices with accurate documentation and work management tools.
The Network Management concentration in the Computer Information Technology program prepares students as entry-level technicians for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of the PC and network hardware, as well as software used in today’s local and wide area computer networking and information systems.
The Scripting and Application Development concentration in the Computer Information Technology program prepares students for entry-level positions in application development, application support, and automation. Students gain hands-on experience designing, coding, testing, and maintaining computer programs using current industry-standard programming languages and development tools. Emphasis is placed on problem-solving, logical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication in the context of application integration and development projects.
Johnson College’s two-year Associate Degree Welding Fabrication & Manufacturing Technology program will expand on our one-year welding certificate course. During the first year, students will learn about safety, hand tools, metallurgy, print reading, weld symbols, and different types of welding including Shielded Metal Arc (Stick) Gas Metal Arc (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG), and Flux-cored Arc. Then during their second year, students will study custom fabrication, pipe welding, and fitting, basic rigging and shop drawings, piping layouts, and learn non-destructive testing methods. In addition to attaining American Welding Society certifications, our two-year program offers students the ability to test for American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) pipe welding certifications.
The one-year Welding Technology certificate course prepares students for entry-level work in the welding industry. Students learn about safety, hand tools, oxyacetylene torches, plasma arc, shielded metal arc welding (stick), gas metal arc welding (MIG), gas tungsten arc welding (TIG), flux cored arc welding, metallurgy, print reading, and weld symbols.
